2008-2009 SEASON BEGINS ON A HIGH NOTE

Featured soloist Alcides Rodriguez, Bass clarinetist of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra offered a flawless performance of Mozart's Concerto for Clarinet & Orchestra in A major. In addition, his rendition of the Andante & Hungarian Rondo by Weber on bass clarinet was definitely mesmerizing.

2008 HONDURAS CONCERT TOUR

The Washburn Symphony recently returned from a very successful concert tour through the Central American country of Honduras. The orchestra performed for large crowds in the cities of San Pedro Sula, Comayagua, and Tegucigalpa, including two benefit concerts for the Escuela de Aplicación Musical and the Pediatrics Section of the Comayagua City Hospital. According to local officials this was the very first time an American orchestra toured their country. The trip was made possible in part by Washburn University, the U.S. Embassy in Honduras, Ledk's Tours, Pepsi, American Airlines, and the National Conservatory of Music of Honduras.
